In this issue of Vet Candy Magazine, it is all about the eyes! As veterinarians, we often faced with some really horrible eye cases, like that inevitable Shih Tzu with an eye prolapse or that bulldog with the nasty melting corneal ulcer. Years ago, the only option for severe cases was enucleation. Now, with the increasing number of specialists, we have an option to refer these cases to specialists who can likely save the eyes. Thank goodness!
According to AVMA 2018 data, there are 453 board certified veterinary ophthalmologists. Our favorite one is Ohio veterinarian, Dr. DJ Haeussler, who graces our cover this month.
