Thank you to Trudell Animal Health for sponsoring this program!
You receive a call from a concerned horse owner about Jazz, a slightly overweight quarter horse who has had a sporadic cough for over a year. Despite supportive care and living outside in a beautiful sunny pasture, Jazz has random episodes of respiratory distress and sometimes they are very scary. What would you do?
Join host Dr. Jill Lopez and her special guest, veterinary internist and horse specialist, Dr. Jean-Yin Tan who reveals all about the Mystery of The Coughing Quarter Horse.
Who is Dr. Jean-Yin Tan?
Dr. Jean-Yin Tan is a board-certified equine internal medicine specialist with international experience in 5 states, 2 provinces, and expertise in both equine specialty practice and ambulatory care. She is a former practice owner who received certification in professional management in 2020 and received her MBA (with Honours) in 2022.

She completed equine acupuncture training in 2010 and in 2011 Dr. Tan opened a successful ambulatory and referral equine veterinary clinic in Upstate New York, where she served as Managing Partner.
In 2015 she joined the University of Calgary as an instructor in Equine Clinical Sciences, where she has played a transformational role in the Clinical Skills program, business stream of the Professional Skills program, and created innovative clinical partnerships with local Indigenous communities.
She has held several international leadership roles, including Chair of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (ACVIM) Advanced Continuing Education committee and member of the Board of Regents, and founding Chair of the American Association of Equine Practitioners (AAEP) Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion taskforce.
